Introduction
We have tried to put together everything you need so you can enjoy a comfortable and happy stay to “UNWIND IN NATURE’S EMBRACE”
We ask all guests to please refrain from going to the farmhouse with any queries etc., we do not live there! You should find the answers to most questions here, however, please do not hesitate to contact us should you need anything.
General Rules
Rules of site
- As soon as you come through our gate, please abide by the 20km on-site speed limit; there will always be farm animals and children to consider.
- If you smoke outside, please do not drop your butts on the ground or decks. Ashtrays are provided.
- No naked flames in the tents.
- STRICTLY NO SMOKING IN THE TENTS
- No noise after 10pm. This is basic courtesy for everyone’s enjoyment of the peaceful environment.
- Use of fire pits must be supervised by a (reasonably) sober adult. Although we encourage you to relax and have a drink, please be sensible when mixing alcohol with use of the fire pits.
- Children should be supervised at all times around the fire pits, the hot tub and the dam.
- No unsupervised children swimming in the dam. Please be aware, we have left the landscape as wild and unfenced as possible for everyone’s enjoyment, so the responsibility for child safety and supervision is with you.
- Please respect nature - we want everyone to engage with the beautiful land we have here at BietjieDam but please just look and don’t touch when it comes to birds’ nests and plants.
- Please don’t forage and eat any wild food.
Site Information
General Guest Etiquette
We ask that all guests be mindful of your fellow guest(s), we have a peaceful site and want all our guests to feel rested during their stay so please keep any noise right down from 10.00pm – 8:00am.
- Always be courteous to our wildlife residents
- Only one car per accommodation can be parked. Only the designated Car Park can be used for parking. Never try and drive across the grass or park in the field as at times the ground can be very wet.
- Put all your rubbish in the waste bins provided
- SMOKING is ONLY permitted in OUTDOOR AREAS
- The key for the Twilight Tent should be left in the door on departure, thank you.
- Check in 14:00pm and Check out 10:00am. We would like to ask that any kitchen items are returned, and our Twilight Tents is left free from rubbish and tidied.
- Report any damage or accidents to us ASAP please. Any items missing or damaged within the accommodation you are staying in will be charged for.
Explore and Enjoy
We have left the areas around the dam as wild as possible to encourage a good diversity of wildlife. There are very deep areas of water – so we ask you that children are supervised at all times around the water.
We do not have any swimming aids, so you must provide your own if children need them. There is a rescue ring at side of the dam near the farm
Farm Safety
Please do not enter the farmyard, farms are dangerous places and there is often large machinery being driven around.
Activities
- Fishing: Cast your line into the waters. Experience the thrill of fishing in our dam, to see if you will hook a fish. Our fish species are common carp, mirror carp or barbal.
- Kayaking: Glide across the tranquil dam waters in a kayak, taking in the breathtaking views and enjoying the serenity. You can inquire about available kayaks or bring your own.
- Bird Watching: With a variety of local and migratory species, enjoy the quiet joy of spotting beautiful birds in their natural habitat. Hopefully you will get to see and / or hear our resident pair of fish eagles.
